This photograph is the manifestation of a breakthrough in understanding the design principle of emphasis. It is actually a composite of two images. The first exposure was done for the blackberries in the background. Metering to preserve detail in the blackberries meant that the raspberry was overexposed. So I made a second image for good exposure on the raspberry. Being locked down on a tripod made it possible for me to register the resulting images in Adobe Photoshop. To further bring emphasis to the raspberry, I completely desaturated the blackberry background exposure and then selected and pasted the raspberry image on the black and white background. Layer masking allowed me to refine the composite image.
