Day 21

Posted on May 14, 2023May 14, 2023

Getting to know a new to me manual focus Tilt-Shift lens. These types of lenses are a quasi throwback to large format film cameras. On most studio grade large format cameras, you can tilt the front lens standard and the rear film standard. With a tilt shift lens you can tilt the lens in relation to the sensor plane on your camera. You can also shift the lens elements up and down parallel to the sensor plane.

This is often used to straighten vertical lines when doing architecture photography but it can also be used to make cityscapes appear as though they are scale models.
